Nebraska Methodist College Unveils Updated LPN to BSN and RN to BSN Program Format

To provide students with a quicker way to begin their nursing careers, Nebraska Methodist College has updated the programs for LPN to BSN and RN to BSN. The programs allow for expediency as well as convenience to begin working in the demanding field of nursing with a bachelor’s degree.

The accelerated LPN to BSN program allows licensed practical nurses to advance their careers, take on leadership roles and pursue graduate degrees. Expansion of education can open more doors and lead to greater career opportunities for nurses. The accelerated LPN to BSN program at NMC is hybrid (online and in-person) and balances work, family obligations and school for students. It’s designed to be completed in six to eight semesters of academic study, depending on course transfer requirements. A typical BSN program takes four years to complete. 

“The fast-paced LPN to BSN program takes you to the next level of professional nursing practice with a greater ability to work in acute care settings,” said Susie Ward, dean of nursing at Nebraska Methodist College. “A BSN nurse from Nebraska Methodist College is highly skilled, competent and compassionate.”

The RN to BSN program shares many of the same benefits as the LPN to BSN program. Many hospitals and health systems already require their nurses to hold bachelor’s degrees. The increase in chronic diseases, aging of population and growing complexity of care are all factors which add urgency to the call for advanced nursing education. The RN to BSN program at NMC is 100% online. The degree can be earned in just three semesters, depending on the appropriate transfer credits. Clinical practice hours are population health-based, and students complete an independent project in the community.

“In the shortened RN to BSN program, you may move ahead in your nursing career,” explained Ward. “It allows you to seek leadership roles, broaden your perspective about population health as well as create job satisfaction.”
