New Methodist Clinic Focuses on Senior Care, Welcomes 2 Specialists

OMAHA – Methodist Health System is proud to announce the opening of a new referral-based clinic dedicated to helping patients with age-related and cognitive health challenges.

The Geriatric Assessment Clinic at Methodist Physicians Clinic Indian Hills offers full geriatric evaluations and acts as a consultative service, working as a partner with Methodist primary care providers.

The clinic will be overseen by geriatricians Abel Cruz, MD, and Kilie Donovan, MD. Dr. Donovan is new to the Methodist family and also will serve as a hospitalist at Methodist Hospital.

Dr. Donovan earned a bachelor’s degree from Wayne State College. She completed her medical training and internal medicine residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). She also completed a geriatric/hospitalist fellowship at UNMC and the Omaha VA Medical Center.

Dr. Donovan is excited to build trusting relationships with patients and their families at the Geriatric Assessment Clinic.

“My goal always is to provide patient-centered care and to involve the whole family if possible,” she said. “It’s kind of a team sport, so if we can get that person’s team on board, that person is going to do a lot better.”

The clinic also welcomes Renee Hudson, PsyD, ABPP-CN, who is board-certified in clinical neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology.

Dr. Hudson earned a doctorate in clinical psychology from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology in Minneapolis and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology at the Hartford Hospital and Institute of Living in Hartford, Connecticut.

A neuropsychological evaluation at the clinic “provides an opportunity to put pieces of a puzzle together to aid the patient, their family and the medical team,” she said. “Keeping folks as independent as we possibly can is the ultimate goal.”

The new clinic will offer many of the services previously available at Methodist Hospital’s Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) Clinic, which has closed. The transition of services is part of Methodist’s strategic initiative to create systemwide solutions that meet the unique needs of older adults.

The Geriatric Assessment Clinic is now seeing patients who have a referral from a Methodist Physicians Clinic primary care provider. The clinic, in Suite 250 at Methodist Physicians Clinic Indian Hills (8901 West Dodge Road), can be reached by calling (402) 354-3152.
