Nebraska Methodist College (NMC) will honor alumni this week during Homecoming, October 24 – 27.
This year’s theme, “Innovative Past Illuminates a Bright Future,” showcases the institution’s heritage while acknowledging its continued evolution to meet the demands of an ever-changing healthcare market.
“I’m honored to be presiding over what I truly believe will be an incredible moment in our institution’s storied history,” said Dr. Deb Carlson, president and CEO of Nebraska Methodist College. “We like to think of this as Year One of the next 125 years, and the theme of homecoming week speaks to these exciting possibilities. We plan to honor those who have used their experience at the college to change lives for the better while giving a sneak preview of where we expect to be in the coming years.”
Homecoming Week events include:
The homecoming reunion dinner will also feature a program dedicated to this year’s featured Honorary Alumni and Horizon Award Winners. The 2017 Honorary Alumni recipient is a name that will be quite familiar to the Nebraska Methodist Health System (NMHS) community.
Spencer Stevens, former NMC board member, and current chairman of Nebraska Methodist Hospital Board, is this year’s honored guest, and for good reason.
“Mr. Stevens has demonstrated excellence and farsightedness in the role of chairman,” said Angela Heesacker-Smith, director of Alumni Engagement at NMC. “But it’s his dedication to education that will receive particular praise at the alumni dinner. Mr. Stevens has been a staunch advocate of the college during his tenure as chairman, and his selection as our honorary alumni recipient is a fitting honor for his legacy of promoting healthcare education to the community.
