Methodist Hospital a Best Workplace for Men in Nursing

OMAHA - Methodist Hospital is one of only two health care employers in the nation named a "Best Workplace for Men in Nursing" by American Association for Men in Nursing (AAMN).

The award was presented to Methodist Hospital on September 22 at the 2017 AAMN conference.

AAMN's mission is to shape the practice, education, research, and leadership for men in nursing and advance men’s health.

“Our nurses are a crucial part of our Meaning of Care,” said Teri Tipton, vice president of patient care and chief nursing officer at Methodist Hospital. Our male nurses offer great value to the team by bringing different perspectives, skills and unique life experiences to improve the teamwork and collaboration on their respective patient care units.”

Methodist Health System employs over 7,000 people – one of the largest employers in the Omaha area. Methodist also leads the state in the employment of male nurses with 81. That figure represents 8.4 percent of our 960 employed nurses.

“Methodist has always supported men in nursing, said Jay Jadlowski, a registered nurse and director of surgical services at Methodist Hospital.” This support continues today. Annually Methodist nurses recognize their peers for excellence in nursing. This year five of our Nurse Excellence winners were men, including the Excellence in Nursing Leadership award. Our CNO was instrumental in supporting the development and growth of our chapter of the American Association for Men in Nursing (AAMN). Methodist has a strong history of supporting men in nursing and the future at Methodist holds many opportunities for nurses to achieve all their professional goals.”

AAMN's "Best Workplace for Men in Nursing" Award recognizes employers that have implemented significant efforts in recruiting and retaining men in a workplace culture supportive of men in nursing at all levels of nursing practice.
