Methodist Hospital

2013: Methodist Hospital has been re-designated a "Blue Distinction Center" for spine surgery and for knee and hip replacement surgery by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska. Methodist was first named a Blue Distinction Center for spine surgery, knee and hip replacement in 2010.

Methodist Hospital has received the American College of Cardiology Foundation's NCDR ACTION Registry-GWTG Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2012 for our commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients.

In 2004, Methodist Hospital was the first hospital in Nebraska to earn Magnet Designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center for excellence in nursing. Magnet status is considered the "gold standard" of nursing. The award recognizes health care organizations exhibiting excellence in nursing services to patients, the existence of an environment that supports professional nursing practice and growth and development of nursing staff.

2011: Methodist has received the Award of Merit from the National Safety Council, Nebraska Chapter, for outstanding achievement in safety by meeting or exceeding Bureau of Labor Statistics averages for hospitals and health care business Labor Workers' Disability index for injuries, lost time or days away from work.
                                                           

Recognized by US News and World Report as high performing in gynecology, orthopedics and ear, nose and throat.

2012: Recognition from the American Cancer Society our long-standing commitment to cancer patients through partnership with the Society. Recognition specific to the completion of a collaborative research project evaluating the impact of literature on newly diagnosed cancer patients.



2013: The Nebraska Cancer Registry (operated by Methodist Hospital) was awarded The North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR) Gold Standard.

2012: Breast Care Center at Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center received 3-year full re-accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, a program of the American College of Surgeons.

The NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders) Program at Methodist Hospital was recently awarded "Exemplar" status, the highest of four possible program levels awarded by the international program designed to help hospitals improve the care of older adults. The award recognizes Methodist's ongoing, high-level dedication to geriatric care.

Since 2006, Methodist Hospital has participated in the American College of Surgeons' National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) to improve the quality of surgical care for our patients through data collection, identification of quality improvement targets and implementation of process improvement measures.

2012 Professional Research Consultant (PRC) Scores 5-Star Awards. The award designation is presented to health care facilities scoring at or above the 90th percentile by patients who have rated the facility as "excellent" in Overall Quality of Care.

Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital

There were numerous accreditations the past year, particularly those in the Cancer and Breast Health Centers. Those two centers continue to be nationally accredited as standout facilities to receive cancer care. The emergency department, sleep lab, and cardiac rehab all renewed various accreditations while stroke and cardiology accreditations are nearing completion.

Other awards and accreditations include:

Methodist Jennie Edmundson honored with the Outstanding Achievement Award by the American College of Surgeons. It is the only nationally accredited cancer program in southwest Iowa.

Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital Breast Center accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR) for Breast Ultrasound.




Methodist Physicians Clinic

Methodist Physician's Clinic Women's Center has been awarded the Safety Certification in Outpatient Practice Excellence (SCOPE) for Women's Health Program certification. SCOPE is a safety focused program of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). Methodist Physician's Clinic Women's Center is the first in Nebraska and is one of only a few OB/GYN offices in the country to be certified.

Methodist Bariatric Surgery has been designated as a Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
Methodist Physicians Clinic Family Medicine and Internal Medicine clinics have been accredited by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). The NCQA strives to improve health care quality by working with employers, policymakers, doctors, patients and health plans to determine accreditation criteria.
